Sandra Sampson, CMG

Sandra Sampson is an independent color design professional, graphic designer, and founder of Simple Modern Style, a multi-disciplinary design studio. Sandra has an insatiable thirst for creative exploration and new challenges. She has achieved success within the consumer goods, consumer electronics, health and wellness, materials design, and gift industries, to name a few.

Sandra’s specialty lies in the ability to transform color, trend, consumer preferences, and market research into a color design that successfully engages your target market, sets your brand apart, or defines your desired space.

After spending more than sixteen years actively volunteering as a member of Color Marketing Group® (CMG), the Premier International Association for Color and Design Professionals®, Sandra actively applies her knowledge of color in design and color forecasting. In addition to her CMG committee leadership, Sandra served for two years as a Board Member and as Vice President of PR and Communications for three years. Today, Sandra actively supports CMG as an Executive Committee member and VP of Education. She also continues to work on special projects, facilitation of color forecasting workshops, World Color Forecast™, CMF steering, and participation in all CMG color forecasting events. She is the moderator for CMG’s ColorSpeak™ webinars bringing educational events to CMG members.

Sandra holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California, and an Associate Degree in Communications from Oregon College of Art, Ashland, Oregon.

In addition to her color design studies at Art Center College of Design, Sandra earned a Certificate of Color Design and Advanced Color Design at the Eiseman Center for Color Information & Training. The Color Design programs covered topics such as the psychology of color, advanced color training for industry, professional color systems, color naming and specifying, and color forecasting.

The knowledge and application of color systems such as Pantone®, NCS Colour System, Munsell, and CIELAB are key to Sandra’s accurate color communication and specification. 

As a member of the Inter-Society Color Council, the Colour Society of Australia, the Detroit Colour Council, and the Industrial Designers Society of America, Sandra keeps abreast of innovations in color, materials, and design. Sandra is also a Fellow of the RSA, the Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce who are “committed to a future that works for everyone”. 

Away from her studio, Sandra relaxes with a good book on color, racing and cruising sailboats on the Southern California coast, or working with her sixth Alaskan Malamute rescue to bring joy to others as a Love on a Leash Therapy Pet.
